Household Hazardous Waste Events

These collection events happen every year and provide an oppurtunity to RDCK residents to responsibly dispose of hazardous waste for free. The Regional District of Central Kootenay will be hosting the following six Household Hazardous Waste Roundup Events in the fall of 2018:

The RDCK made every attempt to involve product stewards at the events as well to allow residents to drop off product stewardship items at the same time. Due to cost restraints, not all product stewards are available at all events. Over 1000 vehicles came to the 2017 collection events and the following volumes of material were collected:

  • 9635 L of used oil
  • 504 kg oil filters
  • 1845 L antifreeze
  • Over 50,000 L of other liquids (including paint, tar, corrosives and toxics)
  • 9000 kg of used electronics
