Discretionary Grants

What are Discretionary Grants?

These grant funds are used to provide some financial assistance to local community groups and organizations for projects that provide social, economic, sporting, cultural and other benefits to our communities. The funds are raised through two sources: first from taxation of each electoral area and/or municipality and secondly, from monies received as part of the BC Hydro Grant in Lieu of Taxes. The funds raised in one area are spent on projects and organizations within that area.

Discretionary grant funding is provided by RDCK Area Directors from Area A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and Village of Slocan at the discreiton of each Director on an ongoing intake dependent upon balance of funding.

Where do I send my Application?

Please forward your completed Application to your Director, you may also submit your application in person at the RDCK office in Nelson or forward it by regular mail, fax to 250-352-9300, or email to jmadelung@rdck.bc.ca (submissions using Dropbox are not accepted at this time.)

Financial Reports

Recipients of discretionary grant funding over $2500 must complete and submit a financial report accompanied by copies of invoices/receipts that account for funding expenditures upon the earlier of utilization or within two years of receiving funding.  Financial report [PDF - 503 KB] (please note, Area E and H has additional reporting requirements.)
