No or Low Cost Recreation

No or Low Cost Recreation is intended to offer RDCK families and individuals, who are facing financial barriers, to participate in various recreation programming opportunities across the region.

All programming opportunities are offered under the Community Services Financial Access & Inclusion policy. This policy aims to provide opportunities for RDCK residents, across the financial need spectrum, with opportunities to access recreation services.

CHEER

CHEER (Community Harmony for Equitable Engagement in Recreation) is a one hour period, once a month, where all patrons, regardless of age, pay $2 to receive general admission access to our Castlegar, Creston, Nelson and Salmo facilities. The $2 admission will provide facility users with access to the pool, fitness centre and public skate events.

Castlegar

• October 23 from 1:30-2:30pm (pool & fitness centre)
• November 22 from 7:00-8:00pm (pool & fitness centre)

Creston

• October 25 from 3:00-4:00pm (arena, pool & fitness centre)
• November 25 from 11:30-12:30pm (pool & fitness centre)

Nelson

• October 22 from 1:00-2:00pm (pool & fitness centre)
• November 22 from 7:00-8:00pm (pool & fitness centre)

Salmo

• October 22 from 5:00-6:00pm (fitness centre & open gym)
• November 21 from 4:00-5:00pm (fitness centre & open gym)

The Community Services team plans to offer additional no or low cost programming opportunities, in addition to CHEER. Stay tuned as more opportunities become available.
