Economic Development

The Regional District of Central Kootenay collaborates with multiple stakeholders to pursue opportunities for economic development, enhance capacity-building for sustainable economic growth and diversification, and create more resilient, prosperous communities across the region.

How is economic development structured at the RDCK? The RDCK strives to empower local communities to achieve their social, environmental and economic goals. Through its sub-regional economic development services, the RDCK provides funding for a variety of opportunities for economic and cultural development. Each service primarily raises funds through taxation in its associated service area.

Economic development commissions have been established by the RDCK Board to further promote economic and cultural opportunities, and receive core funding through the corresponding economic development service. For more information on each economic development commission, please visit the Committees and Commissions page.

Economic development partnerships: Each partnership is funded in part through the RDCK’s contributions through the applicable economic development service. Find out more about each of them below.
