Off-Road Vehicle Use Prohibited on Nelson Salmo Great Northern Trail and at Glacier Creek Regional Park

August 12, 2026

In response to current wildfire conditions, off-road vehicle use is prohibited on the Nelson Salmo Great Northern Trail and at Glacier Creek Regional Park, effective immediately.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is following the Province’s lead on this prohibition, as these parks fall within the Southeast Fire Centre where the Province has prohibited the use of recreational off-road vehicles on Crown land. This prohibition will remain in place until the Province lifts its off-road vehicle prohibition.

Off-road vehicle use is already prohibited or restricted in many RDCK regional parks and trails. During this period of elevated wildfire risk, residents and visitors are reminded to respect all park regulations and wildfire-related restrictions when using RDCK parks and trails.
