Who Does What?
Knowing which level of government is responsible for what can help you navigate where to direct your concerns. Each level of government plays a unique role in our lives, and understanding which areas are handled at each level helps us all to be informed and engaged citizens. Learn more about what the RDCK does compared to municipal and provincial governments.

Household Hazardous Waste Round Up Events
The Regional District of Central Kootenay is hosting six Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Round Up Events throughout the region during the month of September.
These events provide an opportunity for RDCK residents to responsibly dispose of residential household hazardous waste materials for FREE.
Please note that commercial or industrial loads or volumes will not be accepted.
Be Prepared with Voyent Alert!
The RDCK uses Voyent Alert! for its Emergency Notification System, a mass-notification system that allows the RDCK to send out critical information to residents and visitors in the event of an emergency.
The service is free, easy to use, and confidential. Sign up to receive timely, trusted emergency updates when your property is impacted via the app, text message, email, or phone call.
