Working on plan to re-open skate parks in RDCK

Representatives from the West Kootenay, including the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), met yesterday to review the guidelines and recommendations for skate parks that were released by Canada Skateboard. One important guideline is to ask that all skaters use the skate parks (when they re-open) in their own communities as this will help keep the number of skaters in each park manageable. To support this guideline, and to ensure a collaborative effort across the larger communities in the region, it is important the necessary time is taken to open the parks safely by making sure effective COVID-19 preventative guidelines are in place.

We understand the wait seems long, but please know we are working hard to create an enjoyable space during this challenging time. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. More info on the Castlegar and Creston’s skate park’s re-opening date and new guidelines coming soon!
