All Indoor Adult Group Sports Are Cancelled at RDCK Facilities
December 3, 2020
Nelson, BC: By order and direction of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), further restrictions have been implemented across the Province of British Columbia for athletic activities. All indoor adult group sport and high intensity fitness programs at Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) facilities are cancelled effective immediately until the public health order is lifted. Structured child and youth programs and sports will be permitted, but must roll back to ViaSport’s Return to Sport Phase 2 guidance, which allows for smaller groups, including limited numbers in dressing rooms, and drills and skills only.
“The RDCK and all our recreation partners will abide by all Provincial Health Orders and recommendations as the safety of our staff and the public will always be paramount,” said Joe Chirico, General Manager of Community Services. “The conditions are changing on a daily basis and we will do our best to communicate with all our users groups to ensure everyone is updated with the most current information.”
Please reach out to your local recreation facility if you have any questions or concerns about your sport and the new regulations being implemented.
Reserved activities that will continue at RDCK facilities, include swimming, public skating, individual fitness and indoor walking.
A reminder face masks are required in all RDCK facilities and are now required during public skating. It is recommended to bring more than one mask to be able to change as needed.
RDCK recreation services continue to be reviewed regularly as new information and protocols become available. For the most up to date information please go to www.rdck.ca/recreation.
