Water Conservation Measures in effect June 1st for RDCK Water Systems
May 31, 2019
Nelson, BC: Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures go into effect automatically each year from June 1st to September 30th for all Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) water systems. There are four stages and stricter measures may be required if demand increases significantly, hot and dry weather prevails, or if reservoirs decline to critically low levels.
Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures include:
- Watering of lawns (including new lawns), gardens, trees and shrubs ONLY between the hours of 7:00 pm to 10:00 am
- Watering using drip irrigation, a watering can, and or hand held hose is permitted at any time.
Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures are also now in effect for the Riondel Water System only, effective immediately, due to the tendency for low water levels in the reservoir in the summer months. For Stage 2 measures, watering of lawns (including new lawns), gardens, trees and shrubs is permitted ONLY between the hours of 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
