Our Firefighters are Hot!

A firefighter with the RDCK’s Robson volunteer fire department is one of only four firefighters in BC to have successfully completed a “Mayday” course hosted by Canwest Fire Services.

Steve Hoodicoff was one of 96 firefighters representing 38 fire departments who participated in the Ghost Survivor Maze in Oliver, BC. The course tests a firefighter’s ability to recognize when they require help from other personnel.

“This is a very positive reflection on the departments’ commitment to firefighter safety,” said Chief Instructor Ed Brouwer of Canwest Fire Services, adding that Robson’s training program was reflected by Hoodicoff’s performance.

“To say we are proud is an understatement,” said RDCK’s Regional Fire Chief Andrew Bellerby. “Steve did an exceptional job and has demonstrated that our firefighters are some of the best in BC.”
