Fire Fighter for a Night: Kaslo

Have you always dreamed of being a fire fighter? If you’re 19 years of age or older and in good general condition, gear up and see what it takes to fill our boots!

On October 11th, the Kaslo and Area Fire Department will host “Be a Firefighter for a Night.” Fire Chief Doug Yee said that he hopes “that by getting people into gear and giving them a taste of what firefighters do, we will motivate them to join up.”

Students aged 16—18 may apply to the Junior Fire Fighter program.

The event is being held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week in order to raise fire safety awareness and recruit new members.

The evening will also feature a fire safety display in the training room, a tour of the facility, and a live fire extinguisher demonstration.  Activities for kids will also be held, making this an event for the whole family.

Stop by the Kaslo and Area Fire Department from 6—8 p.m., meet our fire fighters, and see if you want to fill our boots!
