Serving the communities of Blewett, Balfour, Queens Bay, Longbeach, Harrop/Procter, Sunshine Bay, Bealby/Horlicks, Taghum Beach and Nelson to Cottonwood Lake.
Ramona Faust first arrived in the Kootenay Lake area in 1974 where she resided for two years before taking a three-year educational and working break to Vancouver to study horticulture and general studies while managing a busy nightclub.
Ramona returned to Nelson in 1979 to continue her studies at David Thompson University and opened a retail shoe store for friends of the family, which still exists in Nelson under different ownership. She married her husband Don in 1980 and raised three children while working part time in the forestry sector and continuing with her studies at Selkirk College. Following that she worked in School District 7/8 for many years.
Volunteer activities were always a part of family life and focused primarily on community building in Procter and Nelson and environmental issues in the region. Ramona had served on the board of directors of several such organizations when in 1996 Ramona began volunteering for the Harrop-Procter Community Forest. She held the position of General Manager from 1999 to 2005 and then as a director until 2006. In 2005 Ramona began working for North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society as their administrator responsible for human resources, contract management and agency growth. She retired from the position in 2011 to focus on her role as the Director for Area E.
Ramona's joys are family and friends, her garden, yoga and singing.
