Request for Proposal - 2019 Sheep Creek Biological Impact Assessment

The Regional District operates the Central landfill located on Emerald Mine Road near the Village of Salmo, British Columbia.  Sheep Creek is situated immediately North of the landfill.  The water quality monitoring program carried out each year for the landfill includes the sampling of the groundwater seeps and Sheep Creek.

The Regional District of Central is seeking Proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a Biological Impact Assessment for Sheep Creek in the immediate area of the Central Landfill.  This assessment is a requirement of the Central Landfill’s Operational Certificate MR-16519 issued by the Ministry of Environment. This will be the fourth biological impact assessment completed at the site.

The purpose of the Assessment is to determine if there is any discernable impact to the biological community of the creek resulting from the groundwater discharge from the landfill area.  The biological impact assessment must be conducted between September 15 and October 15, 2019.  The Assessment will focus on the benthic macroinvertebrate community.

Proposals will be accepted until 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
